Link Connectors and Workflows to a Project
This guide explains how to connect the systems and workflows a project delivers — linking connectors and giving them a role, choosing the workflow templates the project builds on, and adding the workflows that run for it.
Link a connector
The Data sources tab holds a Connectors card listing every connector the project uses and what each one is for.
- Open the project and select the Data sources tab
- On the Connectors card, select Add connector
- Choose a Connector instance — the connection must already be set up as a connector (see Connectors). If it isn't, you can deploy a new connector from the dialog.
- Choose a Role — see the table below
- Optionally add a Note explaining why the project needs it
- Select Add connector
To change a connector's role or note later, select Change role. To remove it, select Unlink connector — this only removes it from the project; the connector instance itself is not deleted.
Connector roles
| Role | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Source | The system data comes from |
| Target | The system data goes to |
| Other | A supporting connector that isn't a source or target |
The role records what the connector is for in this project. It's context for the delivery team and the AI analysis — it doesn't restrict what the connector can do.
Sources for profiling
There's no separate step to add a data connection. Any linked connector that supports database profiling is automatically offered as a source on the Data profile tab (Migration projects only). Profiling it there also puts it on the Data quality tab, where it is assessed. The assessment is this project's own: another project profiling the same connector has its own report and triage. See Profile a Database.
Unlinking the connector removes its data quality report from the project.
The target
A project can declare a target — the system the data is being integrated into. You declare it by linking the target's connector on the Connectors card and giving it the Target role (see Link a connector above).
Declaring a target changes how the data quality report reads: it frames its assessment around loading the source into that target. To tell the report what the target actually requires, upload the target's specification and mark it as applying to the target — see what a document applies to.
Workflow templates
The Templates tab lists the Workflow templates the project is built on, drawn from your shared template library.
- Select the Templates tab — it lists the templates in your library
- Select Add template on each one the project needs (and Remove to drop one)
- Open a template to see what it brings and, with Use this version, pin the version the project uses
Templates are shared
Workflow templates belong to your environment's library, not to a single project — a project picks the ones it needs. To make a new template available, publish a workflow as a template first (see Workflow templates).
Workflows
The Workflows tab lists the workflows delivering this project. There are two ways to link one:
- Create one here — select Add workflow to create a new workflow that's linked to this project from the start.
- Link an existing one — open the workflow and pick this project on its settings tab. It then appears on this tab.
A workflow can belong to at most one project.
